The single seat Explorer is the wrong aircraft for most people, simply because it is built to be as light as possible to meet the FAA weight limit for ultralights.  It is ‘just strong enough’ but not nearly as robust and rugged as our 2-seat Cygnet.  Our two seaters are not up against any sort of weight limit, and have plenty of power, so each time we had the opportunity to make the Cygnet better, stronger, more stable or more comfortable, we have done it, even if it made the craft heavier, because the power to weight ratio, take-off and climb performance is still amazing.

On the other hand, the Explorer single seater is up against a hard weight limit that does not allow us to add any weight to it.  So for most people, the two-seat Cygnet is the better aircraft.  It is more stable on the water, carries a realistic amount of fuel, and has room to carry some things—fishing and camping gear, surf boards, rescue equipment etc.  Even if you are always flying it solo, the two-seat Cygnet is the better choice.  So unless you are extremely light, or you are barred from having an FAA pilot certificate, give priority consideration to the Cygnet over the Explorer.  Ask us about used Cygnets.  We often have older used Cygnets available that are more capable than a new Explorer, but cost the same or less.
