Winging and wing foiling are exciting new watersports. As a modern twist on sailboarding (also commonly called windsurfing), we think of a wing as being a windsurfing sail built with kiteboarding technology. The wing is inflated--there is no need for a carbon fiber mast or aluminum boom. The hand-held wing holds its shape because it is inflated to a pressure that keeps it rigid.
Because the wing just uses air to maintain its shape, it is much lighter than a windsurfing sail. The wing floats in your hands. It is safer than windsurfing because there is no mast to crush you against the board.
With winging, you can use a stand-up paddle board and cruise along the water surface. With wing foiling, you can rise up on the hydrofoil for a fast smooth drag-free ride. When wingfoiling on waves, you can depower the wing and just hold it behind you until you need the power again.
