Lift battery hard reset with magnet
Share
If your Lift efoil battery is stuck with lights on and not responding, here is a procedure to reset it. This procedure is for all Lift batteries prior to LIFT5. All batteries Gen4 and older: LIFT1, LIFT2, LIFT3 and LIFT4.
If your battery is unresponsive, stuck with 4 blue lights on and not charging, it is likely from unplugging it from the board without turning the board off, or unplugging the battery too soon after turning the board off. After you press the power button to turn the board off, give it a few seconds to complete the shut-down process. When the board is off, the blue lights on the battery will turn off. The battery will go to its normal resting mode, which flashes green lights every 6 seconds. The number of green lights corresponds to how much charge the battery has.
Step 1: Get a magnet. The magnet does not need to be especially strong. You might have one on your refrigerator or around the house already. If not, go to Harbor Freight, Walmart, hardware store, dollar store, craft store or similar and you will find a magnet that will work.
Step 2: Hold the magnet against the battery case underneath the handle as seen in the video here: https://www.youtube.com/shorts/I24GX6iGmoQ
Step 3: The battery should react to the magnet by showing some different lights. Once that cycle starts, you can remove the magnet and wait.
Step 4: When the battery lights return the normal 'flashing green every 6 seconds' you can charge it as normal. Remember, connect the data cable and charging cable BEFORE plugging the charger into the wall.
